ETM Class of 2008 Graduation Ceremony

The ETM Department celebrated the graduation of 51 students (50 master's; one Ph.D.) during a commencement ceremony held on June 13, 2008, in PSU's Smith Memorial Ballroom.

Richard (Dick) I. Knight, Interim Dean of the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science (MCECS), gave the welcoming speech. The commencement address was provided by Rick Warren, IBM VP for Global ISV Support and Oregon Location Executive. ETM doctoral student Dianna Laboy-Rush (MSEM '05) gave the alumna address. [More]

Brent Zenobia Defends Dissertation

Omega Rho Induction Ceremony

Twenty three students and one faculty member were inducted into the Omega Rho International Honor Society on April 12, 2008, at PSU's University Place Hotel and Conference Center.

ETM graduate Dr. Stacey Schultz (Ph.D. '03) was the guest speaker, and she spoke on the topic of commercializing products developed by academics at the Oregon Center for Applied Sciences, where she is president/CEO. Located in Eugene, Oregon, the Center "combines scientific knowledge with technological innovation to create viable products that address real-world problems in public health and education." Dr. Schultz also spoke about how her education and ETM have helped advance her career. [More]

PICMET in Cape Town


PICMET '08 in Cape Town, South Africa


Another successful PICMET Conference was held July 27-31, 2008, in Cape Town, South Africa. The theme of the conference was “Technology Management for a Sustainable Economy.” Approximately 400 people registered from 30 countries, including many influential people from universities, industrial corporations and governments. Keynote speakers included executives from world-class technology developers in South Africa, primarily in the energy and telecommunication fields, as well as the Minister of Science and Technology of the Republic of South Africa. Molly Larson Cook, former ETM adjunct professor who taught technical writing and presentation courses, is now living on Whidbey Island in Washington. Molly says she is "still teaching writing students to 'keep the pen moving'" at her Skylark Writing Studio, where she holds writing workshops and classes, among other things literary.
