    "Max" is Portland's light rail system. There are also vintage trolleys operating sometimes on weekends. Max and bus transportation downtown are free. There are many venues for music and shows in Portland.

    Sternwheelers and small cruise boats carry tourists on the river; some travel by river to the coast or to Idaho, the next state to the east. Multnomah falls is a popular tourist destination. There are many paths through the forest and there is a lodge with a restaurant, lounge and gift shop.
